Lee Douglas and Jorge Moreno Andrés are visual anthropologists who live and work in Madrid and New York. By combining ethnographic research with the form of documentaries, together they explore the relations between visual and narrative memory. Both authors are founders of materiaprimaLAB, an organisation of visual anthropologists that is based in Madrid.
After the exhumation of a mass grave in Ciudad Real, a province in the south of Spain, two local anthropologists meet with Angelita González Yepes, who helps them connect a verbal story with forensic evidence and archival records by telling them a story about postwar political violence that separated her family.
